Planned giving is for everyone and anyone.
You don’t have to be a millionaire to make a difference in your community.
Regardless of the amount, your bequest is a statement of your shared commitment to helping low- income and homeless families and our community thrive.
Putting Your Gift to Work
Human Solutions is dedicated to being a trustworthy steward of your gift. Our Board of Directors encourages those planning their estates to designate their gifts to Human Solutions. There are many ways to leave a gift, but the most common is through a will. You can set aside a certain dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. Some people leave a life insurance policy or investments.
Unless otherwise directed by you, legacy gifts will be used in the following ways.
Gifts of $10,000 or less will be used towards the greatest need in the fiscal year they are received.
Gifts greater than $10,000 will be used to provide long-term support for agency.
- 75% of the gift will be placed into Human Solutions operating reserve. An operating reserve is an unrestricted fund balance set aside to stabilize a nonprofit’s finances by providing a “rainy day savings account” for unexpected cash flow shortages, expense or losses. These might be caused by delayed payments, unexpected building repairs, or economic conditions.
- 25% of the gift will be placed into Human Solutions Housing Development Fund. These funds are used to when Human Solutions is considering taking action on a building or rehabilitating a housing project.
As an option, you may wish to designate a restricted gift to benefit a specific program of our organization. We appreciate receiving information from donors regarding the desired specific purpose of any planned gift so that we may ensure that your philanthropic vision for your legacy can be implemented. Human Solutions’ staff is available to discuss specific opportunities for giving and to assist you and your advisors with designation options.
